During early 2026, I took 3 flights from Australia to Iceland, the other side of the world.
I was there to run an ice cave photography tour but allowed a few extra days after the tour to shoot for my own collection. My main focus was targeting the beautiful but seasonal ice caves on the south coast of Iceland.
The
day after our ice caves tour concluded, I departed Reykjavik in my hire car and drove for 5 hours down towards Jokulsarlon on the south coast. I arrived in the region shortly before sunset and after checking, noticed that Diamond Beach was looking incredible with large pieces of scattered ice everywhere.
I setup my gear and went searching for an interesting composition. I soon found lhis collection of ice that caught my eye, lending itself to a nice 3:1 panorama. I waited for a little while until the light from the setting sun peaked in the sky. I then timed a receding wave with a long shutter speed to blur the movement of the waves (in-camera). The resulting effect was just beautiful. |
