The incredible old Whitby Abbey was founded in 657 AD by the Saxon King of Northumbria. Overlooking the town, it can be seen from almost anywhere in Whitby and boasts many ghostly tales.
This particular morning was my first visit to the Whitby Abbey so I was a little unprepared. While the sunrise was starting to peak I was still walking around the perimeter of the Abbey grounds and couldn't figure out for the life of me how to get in! I finally came around a corner to find another photographer climbing a low part of the rock wall. I followed him through and raced to the large pond that I had scoped out on Goole Earth the night before. It was reflections I was after, and they were there alright but I had to go ankle deep into the water to get my lens past the tall reeds in the foreground. I setup my gear and got to work with just enough time to capture this shot before the colour disappeared. I returned to our bed and breakfast with saturated shoes and socks but I really wasn't concerned knowing that I had nailed the shot I was after!

For custom framed prints, Australia wide delivery generally takes 6-8 weeks and International delivery time takes 8-10 weeks.
