Byron Bay Lighthouse watches over the most easterly point of mainland Australia and is one of Australia's most iconic lighthouses.
When I rose from bed early this particular morning I was greeted by a cloudy and overcast sky, in fact the ground was wet and it looked as though it had been raining recently. As tempting as it is to go back to bed on these occasions, I know from experience that there is still a chance of some special light taking place so against the odds I headed out to Byron Bay Lighthouse. As I got closer to the lighthouse I could see a faint pink hue begin to light up the sky and my heart started racing.
Surprisingly when I arrived around 5AM, the lighthouse car park was almost full. I found a space, grabbed my gear and charged up the hill to my previously decided vantage point. It was a Saturday morning and there were quite a few couples around to see the new day in, most of them coming straight from their big night out on the town.
Sure enough, shortly after setting my gear up I soon witnessed a beautiful sunrise over this stunning Australian icon and captured this serene photograph. |

For custom framed prints, Australia wide delivery generally takes 6-8 weeks and International delivery time takes 8-10 weeks.
