During a trip up the east coast of Australia, I was heading for Brisbane when my car broke down just as I was leaving Sydney, a couple of pulleys on the motor had seized and damaged a number of parts. The car had to be towed to the nearest service station and repairs were going to take all day. This was very disappointing for me as the repairs were expensive and it messed up a number of my plans over the following days. Luckily it wasn't too difficult to re-arrange them without too many issues.
Once the car was back on the road, I decided to head north and drive as far as I could before I became too tired to continue driving. I was getting close to my limit when I saw a sign for the town of Crescent Head. I had visited here on my last trip up the coast and scouted an ideal sunrise location however the conditions weren't up to scratch during the time I was there so I didn't capture anything special.
Seeing the sign jogged my memory of this particular location and I decided that Crescent Head would be a good place to spend the night. I could then have another attempt at capturing my pre-determined location. Before I went to bed I checked the weather forecast and conditions were looking ideal for a stunning sunrise the next morning.
The following morning I awoke to the start of one of the most magnificent sunrises I have ever witnessed. I quickly made my way to the Crescent Head beach and setup my gear. As the sunrise peaked I captured this incredible photograph, the conditions were absolutely perfect!
Sometimes in life we only focus on here and now and fail to see that God may have a bigger plan in mind. When I think about this story, if my car had not broken down for the day I would have continued up to Brisbane and would have missed the chance altogether to capture this magnificent photograph. When bad things happen in life, I believe it's important to stay positive regardless because we never know what good may come from a seemingly bad situtation!
