Bedruthan Steps is a stunning beach on the north coast of Cornwall. It's a dangerous place to get caught on a rising tide as the entire beach is underwater by high tide with the waves lapping at the base of the cliffs. If you time it correctly though and visit on a run-out tide, close to low tide you will see some beautiful rock formations with tidal pools around them.
This was my first visit to Bedruthan and when I arrived the sky was completely clear. I decided to make the most of it and explore the area anyway. I climbed through a sea cave that came out onto this secluded beach and as the tide dropped I saw a beautiful tidal pool surrounding this colourful rock. I could instantly see a nice composition but the sky was still clear so I kept exploring, deciding I would need to re-visit another evening. As the sun started to set I noticed a band of cloud appear as if from nowhere, from behind the cliffs. It was moving in the right direction and starting to light up with the settting sun. I raced back to this previously determined composition and got to work. It was an excellent lesson to remember that despite all odds seeming against you anything can happen so you should never lose faith.
